Player Ratings

U8 Coaches:

I wanted to collect player ratings while things were fresh in everyone's mind .

The rating of players: A, B, C or D is based upon coach's judgment. Use A high and D low. There is also a special needs rating of E for children with specific issues. See item OP17 in the online PTSA operating procedures for more detailed information on how to properly rate you players.

Please email me your ratings as soon as possible.

Once again, thank you for all of your efforts this year. They are greatly appreciated.

Sporting essentials has forwarded a correction for the member log-in information required for the MLS Coaching Guides.  For those of you unaware of this great coaching resource, MLS Coaching Guides is an age-appropriate downloadable soccer curriculum that provides coaches and players with an extensive library of drills and activities.  The age-appropriate 10-week curriculum is available in 14 categories ranging from 2-4 year recreational soccer to 17-19 year competitive.  This information can be found at our association website " ptsoccer.net". Select the coaching tab to the left and under the heading of PTSA Coaching Aids - follow the log-in information for:

The Peters Township Environmental Quality Board has requested the following information be sent to PTSA Members.  Please forward this on to your Coaches ... this would make a nice event for any PTSA soccer team that desires some community service and to improve the environmental character of Peters Township by cleaning up a park or roadside.  From the PT website, information on the PT Environmental Board:

Environmental Quality Board

The Peters Township Environmental Quality Board was created in 1982 to assist the Township in developing policies and programs to preserve and enhance the character of Peters Township.

The Environmental Quality Board consists of up to nine members appointed by Council to a four-year term.  The Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM in the Municipal Building at 610 E. McMurray Road, McMurray, PA 15317.  For more information, please contact Pete Overcashier, Public Works Director, at 724-941-6161, or click here to view some program information.

Subject: Peters Township Clean Up Day & Recycling - Saturday, April 21

The PT Environmental Quality Board asks that you pass the word to your Organization members that the correct date for Clean Up Day is April 21 (the Community Calendar shows the 28th).  Peters Township is requesting interested residents and groups to meet on Saturday, April 21at 9:00 am in the Community Recreation Center (entrance of Peterswood Park off of Bebout Road) for assignments. Safety vests, trash bags, and gloves (if needed) will be given out.  Coffee, juice and donuts will be provided along with a special event-day t-shirt for ages 14 and up.  If more than 5 members of your group wish to participate, please call the PT Public Works Department at 724 941-6161, so that adequate supplies are available.  Separate dates also can be arranged for groups desiring to clean up a particular area at other times.

 

April 21 is also an EQB Recycling Day from 9:00 am to 12 Noon at the Public Works Building (across the street from the Community Rec Center).  Items accepted will be magazines, catalogs, corrugated cardboard, telephone books, scrap metal, tires, automotive and household batteries.  Bicycles will be accepted.  This will also be a Computer Recycling Day - computers and peripherals will be accepted for a fee of $5/$10.

Field Diagram Sign Reminder

This is a reminder that the U8 Boys 9am Coaches are responsible for putting out the Field Diagram Signs (one at each entrance) before the 9am games.

Where can I find them?
They are located in the storage building. Same building as the paint machines.

Lock Them
Each sign has a wire "lock" that you can attach to the fence. The lock combination is the same as the storage building ( i.e. the last 4 numbers of the hotline).

Do we have to put them back?
The U8 Girls coaches are responsible for putting them back. So, no work for us.

    Insure goal weights are placed on goals.  Correct placement of goal weights is shown below.  Satchel bar is perpendicular to goal bar.  Satchel is placed as far to the back of the goal as possible.

    Please forward the attached flyer to your coaches with instructions to forward to their teams' parents.  Stress the Parents Clinic and guest speakers as a reason for attending.  The consensus at Monday's board meeting was this event would provide a wealth of information to parents new to or unaware of the travel or high school programs.  Thanks.

Here are my notes from the PTSA board meeting last night:

For Your Parents

• 2007/2008 Registration (in person) will be April 14 and April 21st at the Rec Center.
• PTSA Family Night will be held April 14th - starting at 5:30pm
• We are looking for folks interested in joining the PTSA board. Anyone interested can contact me at abelfiore@gmail.com .
  

For Coaches

• A few of the U8 goals blew over during a windy evening last night. This is not good. We plan on resolving this issue as soon as possible by placing sand bags on each of the goals. Until we get this done, please be careful with the nets and your kids. I would encourage you to flip them down on the ground. We plan on filling up and placing sand bags early this evening. If anyone can help us with the sandbags tonight it would be appreciated. You can call me (412.327.6464) if you are available to help.
• Those poor 9am coaches have yet another responsibility. The U8 boys coaches are now responsible for placing both PSC (Peterswood Soccer Complex) signs at both entrances before the 9am games.
  
• Under the Coaching tab on our website, the login information for the MLS Coaching Guides has changed to Peters_Twp (the underscore is new).
