E" License – Coaching Travel/Classic players

The philosophy of the "E" certificate is player development.  The "E" certificate is geared toward preparing the coach to teach soccer techniques to the youth player during the "golden age of learning."  The emphasis is on the building blocks of the game – shooting, passing, receiving, dribbling, heading and goalkeeping.  These are the skills that players must master to play the game properly.  Technical skills are taught and then refined under game conditions using match related exercises that incorporate pressure from an opponent, limited time and limited space.  Principles of attack and defense will be presented.

Fwd: Multipurpose Fields to be Closed soon for Summer

Subject: Multipurpose Fields to be Closed soon for Summer

Commissioners,

Please inform all coaches that PTP&R will be closing the multipurpose fields we use at Rees Park, Elm Grove and Venetia Park for most of the summer beginning June 25th.  Also, the Peterswood Soccer Complex field (Field #5) will be closed effective June 18th ... any Travel Teams still practicing during the week of Jun 18 - 24 must move their practices to Elm Grove or Rees Park that week.  The reason for the closures are so PTP&R Maintenance can begin their programatic maintenance on the fields ASAP and to give them an opportunity to rest for 6-8 weeks over the summer months.  The Parks & Recreation Director informed me today that the fields are being closed to all activities over the summer for this purpose with the only exception being Rees Park & Venetia for the Jul 16-20 Challenger Camp.  This is a huge step in the right direction by PTP&R Maintenance ... hopefully their work and our resting the fields will produce noticeable improvement in field conditions next Fall.  It is anticpated that PTP&R will reopen these fields around August 11th.

Fwd: Urgent Plea for Volunteers: Challenger British Soccer Camp - Jul 16 - 20

Subject: Urgent Plea for Volunteers: Challenger British Soccer Camp - Jul 16 - 20

Commissioners,

We are at a critical juncture regarding the Challenger Camp.  Unless parent
volunteers come forward soon, the Challenger Camp is in jeopardy.  Since the
following message was sent to you over 1 week ago, Jamie has not received a
single call from anyone willing to volunteer:

Please send an email to all Coaches with a request they ask their team's
parents for volunteers to help coordinate this summer's Challenger British
Soccer Camp which will take place July 16 - 20.  Jamie Ross is PTSA's Camp
Coordinator and has a big need for volunteers to make the camp a success ...
we are expecting about 200 soccer player campers this year ... the biggest
camp ever for PTSA to manage.  Challenger Sports provides the professional
soccer coaches (probably about 10 this year) to manage the soccer aspects of
the camp, but Jamie has the huge, huge task of coordinating most everything
else from registration promotion to on-site coordination.  Volunteers are
needed to help with any of the following aspects:  hosting coaches, helping
with first day registration, monitoring the mini-campers (ages 4-6),
maintaining water/ice coolers, handling minor injuries (scrapes, bruises,
heat exposure), helping with July 15th coaches reception, and other tasks
that Jamie can't handle alone (especially since the camp will be held at
multiple locations this year due to the size of the camp).  No soccer
expertise is required ... just a love of the game and a willingness to help
out.  Volunteers should contact Jamie Ross directly at:

   Jamie Ross
   Director of Training
   633 Venetia Road
   Venetia PA, 15367
   724-348-6881
   emailto:  ptsarossclan@yahoo.com

Unless volunteers come forward quickly, PTSA may consider reducing the
registration count for this year's camp in July 2007 and eliminate it
entirely for the summer of 2008.  Although the Challenger Camp is a fee
based program, PTSA receives no compensation for its sponsoring and
coordinating the camp and Challenger is able to keep the camp fee reasonable
as PTSA endeavors to handle registration coordination, promote the camp,
host coaches, and provide an on-site coordinator for the camp week.

Please send another URGENT email to all your Coaches with a request they
soliicit volunteers from amongst the parent ranks.

p.s. Jamie, if you receive no volunteers in a week or so, I strongly suggest
you contact Challenger and close registration to a number of 150 or less
since Rees Park can simply not accomodate more campers for a quality camp
and without additional volunteers (beyond yourself), a multiple location
scenario will not be feasible.
