Subject: Urgent Plea for Volunteers: Challenger British Soccer Camp - Jul 16 - 20

Commissioners,

We are at a critical juncture regarding the Challenger Camp.  Unless parent
volunteers come forward soon, the Challenger Camp is in jeopardy.  Since the
following message was sent to you over 1 week ago, Jamie has not received a
single call from anyone willing to volunteer:

Please send an email to all Coaches with a request they ask their team's
parents for volunteers to help coordinate this summer's Challenger British
Soccer Camp which will take place July 16 - 20.  Jamie Ross is PTSA's Camp
Coordinator and has a big need for volunteers to make the camp a success ...
we are expecting about 200 soccer player campers this year ... the biggest
camp ever for PTSA to manage.  Challenger Sports provides the professional
soccer coaches (probably about 10 this year) to manage the soccer aspects of
the camp, but Jamie has the huge, huge task of coordinating most everything
else from registration promotion to on-site coordination.  Volunteers are
needed to help with any of the following aspects:  hosting coaches, helping
with first day registration, monitoring the mini-campers (ages 4-6),
maintaining water/ice coolers, handling minor injuries (scrapes, bruises,
heat exposure), helping with July 15th coaches reception, and other tasks
that Jamie can't handle alone (especially since the camp will be held at
multiple locations this year due to the size of the camp).  No soccer
expertise is required ... just a love of the game and a willingness to help
out.  Volunteers should contact Jamie Ross directly at:

   Jamie Ross
   Director of Training
   633 Venetia Road
   Venetia PA, 15367
   724-348-6881
   emailto:  ptsarossclan@yahoo.com

Unless volunteers come forward quickly, PTSA may consider reducing the
registration count for this year's camp in July 2007 and eliminate it
entirely for the summer of 2008.  Although the Challenger Camp is a fee
based program, PTSA receives no compensation for its sponsoring and
coordinating the camp and Challenger is able to keep the camp fee reasonable
as PTSA endeavors to handle registration coordination, promote the camp,
host coaches, and provide an on-site coordinator for the camp week.

Please send another URGENT email to all your Coaches with a request they
soliicit volunteers from amongst the parent ranks.

p.s. Jamie, if you receive no volunteers in a week or so, I strongly suggest
you contact Challenger and close registration to a number of 150 or less
since Rees Park can simply not accomodate more campers for a quality camp
and without additional volunteers (beyond yourself), a multiple location
scenario will not be feasible.
