The US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop is being held in Pittsburgh this coming February 7-9.  Please pass this information along to All PTSA Coaches, as there are volunteer opportunities that can lead to access to workshop sessions.  Also, please ask Coaches to inform parents as well.

* Want To Help With The US Youth Soccer National Convention? Volunteers are needed to help during the US Youth Soccer adidas Coaches Convention and Workshop. Volunteers are needed to help with registration, goody bags preparation and distribution, equipment, and team escorts. They will receive a day pass to access sessions and the expo area when not working. I understand from Pat Airhart that the Peters Township Parks & Recreation Board is expected to have three openings for terms beginning January 2008.  It would be great to get some more soccer oriented people as Board Members to be advocates for positions taken by PTSA, espeially regarding field maintenance, availability of gym space at the PTCC, etc.    A description on the Board role and activities is below.  Interested persons should contact the Township Manager regarding their interest in serving:

Parks and Recreation Board

---

The Parks and Recreation Board is an advisory board consisting of seven members.  Three of the members are recommended by the Peters Township School District.  All of the members are appointed by Council and serve a three year term.  The Parks and Recreation Board meets in the CRC the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM at 700 Meredith Drive, Venetia, PA 15367.   

The Parks and Recreation Board recommends policies and programs designed to meet the leisure needs of all age groups.  The Board assists in reviewing proposed improvements to the Township's park system. Open spaces proposed for dedication by developers are also recommended by the Board members.  For more information, please contact Michele Harmel, Parks and Recreation Director at 724-942-5000.

The PTHS Varsity Boys won their match yesterday 2-0 against Central Buck East in the PIAA quarterfinals.  They advance to the PIAA Semi-final Tuesday evening against Pine-Richland (which defeated WPIAL Champion, Bethel Park, 2-1).  Location of Tuesday's match has not yet been determined, but it should be in PA West locally ... check Monday's Post-Gazette website or newspaper).
 
Unfortunately, the PTHS Varisty Girls were eliminated from the PIAA playoffs after losing to Penn-Trafford 1-2 yesterday.  PTHS previously won against Penn-Trafford 9-1 during the regular season.
